We are pleased to announce a fabulous line up of entertainment for the 2017 Dig For Victory Show!
John Prescott and Steve Doig are Capital Swing. Swing sensation, John P, is fast gaining a reputation as one of the most exciting young jazz singers to emerge in the south west in recent years, recently appearing on BBC One prime time television. John is accompanied on piano by Steve Doig, a musician with 30 years experience on the circuit.
Lucy Moon is a natural behind the mic - returning to Show once again Lucy will be adding her gorgeous vocals to the Victory Dance bringing home that fantastic Big Band sound to keep you swinging all night. Also appearing with Swing Dance Bristol running our lovely children's dance workshops.
Jonny Bruce is a throwback to the pre-Miles styles of playing. In other words, he’s not cool, he’s hot! Jonny will be appearing at the Victory Dance conducting our headline act, Bristol Community Big Band.
Bristol Community Big Band are an energetic local ensemble made up of non-professional musicians and they certainly put the Big in Big Band. They have a huge sound and will bring their joy of swing to keep you on the dance floor all night as they headline The Victory Dance.
DJ UXB is our fabulous resident DJ for the festival weekend and a Dig For Victory Show favourite. Playing classic tunes from the 1940s he will be sure to keep you on the dance floor.
Luna Nightingale adores the 1940s and everything that went before. She’ll sing a selection of forties hits, smooth jazz, sing-a-long and big band and you may hear a few songs you hadn't before so there’s sure to be something for you! Please do go and say hello to Luna as she loves to meet her audience and if you have any requests, she’ll try to fit them in.
The Dixie Belles are Ruby, Pearl and Iris - three charming young ladies who will be taking time out of their womanly duties to tantalise your ear drums with their beautiful harmonies singing swing and boogie-woogie. They guarantee you a jolly good show. Toodle-pip!
Dickie Lines tours the country providing entertainment from the 1940's and singing the songs of the era; and with a wealth of recorded material, his show will be lots of fun! Dickie will be performing as George Formby with his uke!
Swing Dance Bristol will be joining us in the Victory Marquee to give free dance lessons so whether you’re a beginner or a more experienced dancer, come and join their fantastic teachers and polish up your swing steps.
The Good Night Sweethearts - otherwise known as the gorgeous duo Connie and Flo, have been a huge hit with our visitors over the past few years and we are thrilled to have them back for 2017.
