jamesThe Dig For Victory Show 2023 will be our 6th year and our wonderful event has gone from strength to strength. The show organizer, James Shopland, is a historian with a passion for military vehicle restoration. In 2009 James worked with former employees of The National Trust, putting on an event which told the story of the Tyntesfield Estate, Wraxall during WWII, through the use of historical testimonies and artefacts from the Shopland Collection.

James recognised the enthusiasm of the general public to learn about Britain in the 1940s or as it was known, the Home Front. With the support of friends and family the event took on its own momentum. More volunteers came on board and by early 2014 a community interest company, a not for profit organisation, was formed with the aim of putting on an affordable, family orientated event to explore this turbulent and thought provoking period in our recent history.

We are a group of volunteers of mixed ages and backgrounds, united in our understanding of the importance of heritage, community and education. We want to share our enthusiasm and excite young and old minds alike and the Dig For Victory Show aims to bring history alive and the generations together to learn remember and have fun. We also aim to raise money for local and national charities that support those in need across all the generations.

It is rare to find events and attractions attended by three generations of a single family. Our event is designed to allow the generations to find some common ground and we believe this is hugely important for community cohesion, promoting understanding and respect towards the older people in our community.

The Western Branch of the Invicta Military Vehicle Preservation Society (IMPS) has been at the heart of this event since the very beginning. The Dig For Victory Show is proud of its links to the IMPS and indebted to the club for its on-going support.

We hope The Dig For Victory Show gives you as much pleasure as it gives us.
